Role Summary
Tipperary Energy Agency is looking for a Senior Energy Consultant with the passion and drive to play an integral role in helping our clients on the transition to net zero carbon. This is a new senior role for our agency, with a place on the Leadership team to support our new strategy in driving the energy transition to carbon neutrality through leading the delivery of sustainable energy solutions, by advocating, educating, and innovating on climate action.
In this role, you will lead and implement an ambitious regionalisation agenda, scale our community energy work to empower communities to fund and generate their own power. You will build skillsets in the communities we work with, and deliver the standards needed to bridge the gap between the ambition to be carbon neutral and the reality of making it happen.
The role is based in our Nenagh headquarters and will require regular regional, national, and European travel.
Role Responsibilities
Commit to deliver our goal of creating a regional structure to support our clients and building a strong community energy and microgeneration service that is scalable regionally and nationally.
Work with stakeholders across the region to create and drive a regional energy service in the agency. Support multiple local authorities to accelerate the development of their energy management systems and investment needed.
Advise clients on the development of their climate action plans and provide technical energy engineering and strategic support in the delivery of their implementation plans including a programme of retrofit projects, comprising capital works and best in class carbon and climate change impact assessment methodology.
Lead the agency in creating and managing proposals for national and European funding to support our clients plans and where successful, act as the agency lead on projects, attending meetings and delivering on workplans.
Develop and manage engineering projects with clients and colleagues that support innovation in building efficiency and decarbonisation, design and delivery of innovative energy systems, codes and standards development, emerging technology, and pilot demonstration.
Create and support networks of communities in developing a just low-carbon energy model through the delivery of services in energy master planning, generation, education and provide guidance and mentorship.
Present and report to internal and external audiences, engaging with and influencing stakeholders and provide expert/technical advice to others.
Manage a team, with a responsibility for the development of graduate engineers as well as the more seasoned professional engineers through providing support, assignment of work and stretching their tasks.
Provide tangible accountable leadership for project teams to achieve client goals, monitor progress and give direction.
